How we make Pictures to Paintings at Indigo art online:
Purchasing an oil painting from IndigoArtOnline.com is an easy, yet exciting process. It is something to truly look forward to be delivered to your home or place of work. Each picture to painting is hand painted, by real artists the old fashioned way, and each artist is fairly compensated for their work- all works of art are fairly traded, and we are very proud of the work they accomplish!

Each order we receive from you begins with a blank canvas, high quality tubes of oil paint and an artistically talented, highly qualified and passionate artist. Each artist is in charge of your own oil painting from start to finish- until it leaves their studio. We meticulously check each and every piece before it leaves their studio for your 100% satisfaction. Our oil on canvas portraits are the best on the market!
Please take some time to read below on how each picture to painting is developed from us receiving your photo to the finished product being delivered to your doorstep- it’s AMAZING!

| Preparation: |

|
The key to any artist’s success is the correct preparation. We start with a very clear image which you send to us either through the mail or e-mailed. We usually send these photos via scanned high resolution e-mailed photos to the artists. Sometimes we may manipulate the photos a bite (such as backdrops, clarity issues, or zooming it) before the artist receives them and approved by you.
We also choose the best artist for the work, we have over 200 hundred artists on payroll, and each specializes in certain types of portraits.
We choose the best quality canvas, oil paints and brushes to complete each masterpiece. |
Oil Paints- We utilize specially formulated oil paints that offer rich, vibrant colors, to create the perfect content and color pigmentation in each work. Each tube of oil paint is picked for longevity and durability, to deliver a fine work of art that will last for generations for our oil on canvas portraits.

Canvas- We prefer to use the best quality canvas on the market, and our artists have decided that 100% cotton fabric, stretched is the most durable and best to work with when using oil paints. The cotton fabrics that we use are all fine woven and have excellent fiber strength and are coated with an acid free titanium gesso.

Brushes- We primarily use five different kinds of brushes- flat, round, bright, fan and filbert. They usually are made from natural sable, hog-bristle and synthetic sable. We shy away from the cheaper brushes as they sometimes shed their hairs. Each brush has its own use, and each artist has their very own taste of which is best for what- but regardless of which brush they use- the art studio where they work is jammed packed full of bottles, brushes, paints and pallets- the place looks like a true artist’s studio! We like to call it organized chaos!

Each masterpiece is started with a blank stretched canvas and the highest quality oil paints on the market. We provide nothing but the top quality materials for our master artist’s palettes.
|
| Initial Sketch: |
| • Each artist works differently, but most choose to sketch a rough outline on the blank canvas, some use a grid system and others use specially designed instruments to ensure that the dimensions, scale and composition is identical to what they are actually drawing. |
 |
| Undercoating: |
| • Once the outline is charcoaled onto the canvas, the first layer of paint is applied, we call this the undercoat, and it sets the scene by covering up the gesso and acting to set a tone for the painting. The backgrounds are usually coming to light at this point in the artistic process. |
 |
| Rough Painting: |
| • Once the background is set and the initial layer is dried, the artist then starts to process the shapes and forms with more detail and color. The actual detail of each character and the backdrop is taking shape in this particular stage of the process. |
 |
| Final Painting: |
| • On the final stage of the painting process, the details are painted in; depth perception of the backdrop is then added in and in some cases texture is added where necessary. Color, consistency in sizes of the characters and the details are checked by the master artists and our senior inspection artists to ensure the painting is perfect. |
 |
| Your Approval: |
| • At this stage, we send you a copy and you are invited to give your opinion of the painting to ensure it is acceptable. Any changes will be made free of charge on any piece you have commissioned. If changes are required, then the final improved painting is then e-mailed to you for your final approval. The painting is then shipped to you for display in your home, office or as a gift. |
