The Peoples Democratic Republic of Laos is a unique little land locked country bordering several different Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand, China, Myanmar, Vietnam and Cambodia, and lies right in the middle of the region.

Although Laos has had its ups and downs over the years, it seems to be stabilizing and actively courting foreign investment, which will ultimately assist in its rise economically, which will hopefully trickle down to the wonderful Laotian people.

Laos is blessed with some great landscapes, people and places to see. The capital is Vientiane, and some popular towns to visit while in Laos is Phonsovan (this is where the famously magical place called the Plain of Jars is located), Vang Vieng (excellent river rafting here!) and Pakse (which is well known for its ancient ruins). The central mountainous region has some spectacular scenery, with some of the best hiking in Southeast Asia.

Although Laos is not an easy country to travel, it is well worth making the effort to see and meet the people. It is a special place that houses some of the most talented and ambitious people in Southeast Asia.
